Creating the sounds we party to

Sugar is Felix Hamer

A lifelong obsession with music beginning at age 12 when he got his first keyboard has taken Felix from owning a PA Hire company (Born to Lift), to DJ'ing at events from greek weddings to massive rave parties, and now into producing some of Australia's most cutting-edge underground Trance Music.

Having a classical pianist for a father, sound-engineering many albums, & producing a wide range of Melbourne's best Techno & Trance parties has given him a wealth of experience to draw upon. His unique style of Funky Psychedelic Trance has grooves to move your feet, and riffs to twist your head.

His Techno-Lab studio is enough to give most musicians wet dreams. A collector of vintage analog keyboards, his stable currently includes classics such as the Korg Poly-Six, Poly-800 & Vocoder, A.R.P. Axe, Micro-Moog, Pro-1, Juno-60, Sequential Circuits Six-Trak, most of the the Roland "O" Series 101, 303 etc.. as well as the latest Digital gear like Emu E-64 samplers, Kurzweil K-2500 virtual synths, Yamaha CS-1X, Mackie 8 Bus mixing desks, and a rack full of FX units and processors. Funnily enough, all this is orchestrated by a humble floppy-based Atari ST running Cubase.

He is in demmand for Trance Parties all over Australia, including Earthcore, Every Picture Tells a Story, ConFest, TranceElements and more, and any event with "Sugar - Live" is sure to get a good turnout as he always rocks the crowds.

Fractal Glider is Paul McCosh.

fractal1.jpg (83607 bytes)

A new name to the Australian Trance music scene, Paul started writing trance and performing live about 2 years ago, and immediately attracted a lot of attention with his pumping hi-energy tracks.

There is no way of putting him on late in the morning. This bloke rocks the peak and nothing else. You need a good DJ after him just to keep the vibe as high as he carries it. With Kicks to shake the earth, and percussion and synth patterns that just scream "Energy !" , Fractal Glider's sets have yet to leave a crowd anything but sweating and screaming for more.

Paul is an audio engineer by day, which gives him a geat technical background for producing his tracks to the highest standards. Watch this guys tracks punch a hole in the sky and suck people through to another world

Pauls "Razor Studio" is full of toys such as sequencing Logic via PC, Emu ESi-32 Turbo, Alesis Quadrasynth, Yamaha and Korg outboard FX, Mackie desks, Novation BassStation Rack, a series of dynamic processors and Tascam DAT machine, and mastering to Fairlight MFX 3.

Paul is playing clubs around Melbourne during the off peak season regularly in venues such as the Psy-Fi room at mansion, the Green Ant Full Moon Parties, Atmosphere and CIA. Winters one thing, but in Summer Fractal really takes off! With constant new material and a years worth of energy bursting to play outdoors, Fractal enjoys the Summer festivals more than life itself. "With an excited crowd, the warm Melbourne nights seem to cover the people with a blanket of dance fever. This is the moment that I write music for. Even if it only occured once in a lifetime, thats the moment I'd write it for so it has to be right, it has to be magic!"

Tshinta is Frank Venuto & Felix Hamer

Frank has been the creator behind most of Melbourne's quality Trance parties in the last few years, bringing people like Cosmosis, Shakta, Return to the Source, Dominic Lamb (TIP), Andre (Flying Rhino) and many more to the ears of Melbourne's trance dancers.

After building a collection of state-of-the-art gear like ???, he is ready to start exploring some sonic soundscapes, and Tshinta brings the experience of Felix into the team to get things moving in the right direction.

As well as thumping trance, Frank enjoys fluffier grooves, and subtle tunes, and Tshinta tracks show this musical direction at its best..

Northcore
(formerly Nordcore) is Carl-Joakim Gibbons.

Born in Denmark, Swedish citizen, speaker of three Nordic languages and self-professed Iceland-o-phile, the "North" in Carl's moniker is well-justified. He started writing music in 1991 with a D-10 and an old IBM, and was significantly involved in Melbourne's ambient scene between 1993 and 1994. Working under the name of Nonspace, Carl attracted the attention of the then-brand new experimental label, Seraphic. With Seraphic's assistance, he scored a gig at Global Warming, Little Reata's upmarket Sunday night chillzone. Through the urgings of Global's front-chick, Sam Grapsas, Carl was encouraged to write some dance music for the gig, and following the subsequent response, Nordcore was born. Nordcore has since played live throughout Melbourne, and his music appears on several respected Australian compilations, including Zeitgeist 2, Melbourne Medium Rare, and this latest Green Ant offering. He has also had commercial success both in Australia and the UK with his track "Clearlight", which was released under the artist name "Little Loki".

With his limited gear (Peavey SP, Roland D10, JV880, Kurzweil K2000, PC), Carl continues to explore the underground sounds, unabashedly producing tracks in every style, from Acid to Drum+Bass. With his far-seeing eye currently turned to progressive trance and dEEEp, trippy, tribal house, and a new set in his Two Fat Ladies cooker, Northcore seems set this year to sweep like a keen Arctic wind through the steamy warehouses of Melbourne.

His webpage is at www.geocities.com/Area51/Zone/3231

The House of Pagan Christians
is Krusty (Paul Gaffney) & Felix Hamer (Does he ever Stop?)

In this Collaboration, Krusty works to bend Felix's attention in a Worldy, Drum & Bass, Experimental & Ambient sonic direction. Krusty's wide and diverse tastes in music are well known amongst Melbourne party goers, and few DJ-Krusty sets dont contain at least one surprise track as he seeks to find new grooves, and tribal influences to move the crowd in new ways. Expect tracks from this duo to push your ears in new and unusual directions while still maintaining that edge that keeps you moving.
